Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

The Pathology and Diet Therapy II comprises the pathophysiological aspects of the disease in a systematic and integrated manner, its aetiology and proper nutritional therapy.

Skills to be developed:

  • Understanding the relationship between nutrition and disease.
  • Establish nutritional diagnostics and tailor nutritional intervention, practicing evidence-based nutrition.
Syllabus:

Lectures:

  1. Techniques for nutritional support.
  2. Other systemic diseases (hematologic, infectious, respiratory, dermatological, neurological and renal).
  3. Oncological disease.
  4. Skeletal and joint disorders.
Theoretical / practical classes:
 
The theoretical/practical classes will consist in the discussion of clinical cases and assisted practice in the Nutrition Consultation at the Egas Moniz Dental Clinic. They will be addressed in a practical way all the content taught in lectures.
 
Tutorials:
 
 Oriented study to better understand clinical cases.
