Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The Pathology and Diet Therapy I comprises the pathophysiological aspects of the disease in a systematic and integrated manner, its etiology and proper nutritional therapy.
Skills to be developed:
- Understanding the relationship between nutrition and disease.
- Establish nutritional diagnostics and tailor nutritional intervention, practicing evidence-based nutrition.

- INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL PRACTICE
- MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY FOR:
Haematological disease.
Obesity.
Diabetes mellitus types 1 and 2.
Coronary disease.
Changes in lipid metabolism.
Hypertension.
Metabolic syndrome.
Pathologies of the digestive tract.
Dermatological diseases.
Food allergies and food intolerances.
Theoretical / practical classes:
The theoretical/practical classes will consist in the discussion of clinical cases and assisted practice in the Nutrition Consultation at the Egas Moniz Dental Clinic. They will be addressed in a practical way all the content taught in lectures.
