Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The aim of the Unit is to convey the principal areas of intervention in clinical psychology thus enabling students to understand the conceptual matrix of psychological theories applied to clinical practice; to understand the various intervening contexts of the clinical psychologist and the diversity of clinical practice applied to psychopathology and to physiopathology. It is intended to promote skills of substantive knowledge, critical thinking skills and more informed choice.
Syllabus:
- Definition of the field of clinical psychology and of the various areas of intervention of the clinical psychologist.
- Psychological assessment – skills applied to clinical psychology, aims and methods.
- Psychotherapeutic interventions in mental illnesses throughout the life cycle: in children and adolescents, in the adult, in geriatrics.
- Clinical interventions in addictive behaviours, in anti-social behaviour and in offenders.
- Clinical sexology.
- Intervening in the context of illness and primary health care.
