Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
After finishing the curricular unit the students should be able to:
- Identify the steps and components in neurological patient’s assessment
- Identify and organize neurological patient’s problems
- Define general and specific treatment goals
- Identify and analyse measurement instruments for each of the objectives of the evaluation parameters
- Describe and perform the appropriate procedures for positioning and transfer neurological patients
- Analyse the importance of education to the family and patient and explain the contribution to rehabilitation
- Define and analyse Neuromuscular Proprioceptive Facilitation PNF - Method of Kabat
- Identify the basic procedures of this method and explain its importance in physiotherapy
- Define the specific techniques of this method and identify its objectives, indications and contraindications
- Analyse and perform the various techniques of this method, basing the choice of technique and its applicability related to the problem
- Describe and analyse the Margaret Jonhstone Method
- Define the theoretical principles of the technic and its applicability in neurological individuals with neurological injuries
- Identify and implement appropriate procedures to rehabilitate the patient with facial palsy, peripheral lesions e spinal cord injury, considering physiology, physiopathology and disease evolution and prognosis

- Positioning of neurological patients, importance and applicability related to motor and sensory deficits
- Techniques for transferring patients with neurological disease
- Teaching the patient and family, importance and contribution to recovery
- Physiotherapy approach in neurological diseases: Assessment, problem identification, goal setting and developing a treatment plan
