Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

Acquire knowledge about Neuroscience to develop the following competencies:

  • Analyze measurements / monitoring of neurophysiological signals
  • Identify the brain mapping and neural network
  • Describe neural circuits in the motor task
  • Describe neural circuits after injury to the nervous system
  • Identify the mechanisms of circuitry in neuromotor disorders
  • Identify the mechanisms of circuitry in cognitive disorders, with motor expression
  • Structuring the clinical reasoning by integrating the scientific evidence of neuroscience
Syllabus:
From Neuroscience to Clinic:
  1. Basic concepts of brain mapping methodologies and instrumentation / monitoring of neurophysiological signals
  2. Brain mapping with study of motor task in healthy and post-injury individuals
  3. Description of clinical conditions, involving circuitopathies (changes in brain function), with repercussions on motor function and cognitive and / or behavioral performance
  4. Description of movement dysfunctions (motor task), with behavioral dysfunctions
  5. Neuroscientific advances, with repercussions on clinical reasoning in physiotherapy
From Clinic to Physical Therapy:
  1. Neuroscientific concepts integrated in the evaluation in Physiotherapy
  2. Differentiation, from the neuroscientific perspective, of the acute and chronic phase in neuromuscular dysfunctions
