Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
At the end of the curricular unit students should be able to:
- Understand the global characteristics of the profession;
- Understand the principles of the national health system;
- Describe the historical factors of Health Technologies in general and Physiotherapy, in particular;
- Identify the changes observed in the teaching and practice of Physical Therapy;
- Understand the conduct of the physiotherapist and the procedures for hygiene and safety in health services;
- Identify the requirements necessary to establish a physiotherapy service with Quality Certificate;
- Know the evaluation models of health conditions, in particular the International Classification of Functioning;
- Know the different areas of health intervention, focusing on the relationship of team;
- Understand the significance of scientific research;
- Use the main sources of information and data collection for the preparation of academic work;
- Understand and use technical standards for the preparation of academic work;
- Integrate groups to discuss specific issues in the field of Physiotherapy.

- Evolution of the concept of health / disease.
- Models of evaluation of health conditions.
- Historical development of Physiotherapy. Current situation and future prospects.
- The physiotherapist and occupational health. Professional profile.
- Rules of practice and establishments providing Physiotherapy.
- Professional ethics and the ethics of physiotherapists and physiotherapy.
- Quality health and hygiene and safety in physiotherapy.
- Health communication from the perspective of physical therapists.
- Professional organizations representing Physiotherapy.
- Scientific research: sources of information, records of reading the submission of papers and preparation of references.
