Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

Toxicology is the study about the harmful effects of chemical substances (also of physical or biological nature) in living beings. It is a multidisciplinary matter including pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry, physiology and others. The raising interest and scope of Toxicology is explained by its major importance for the well-being of man and other living beings. The steady growth in the number of new chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, pollutants, drugs of abuse, food additives, etc., associated with their potential toxicity, constitutes the support and justification for the commitment that must be given to the study of this discipline. The pharmacist, for its multi-disciplinary training and opportunities for any intervention in his professional life, occupies a place of honor to fit in this scientific area and receive proper formation.

In the laboratory classes the objective is to provide practical knowledge in relation to analytical toxicology and the interpretation of results.
