Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
This course aims to obtain fundamental knowledge on of instrumental analysis including spectroscopic, chromatographic and electrochemical methodologies that are relevant for the qualitative and quantitative characterization of molecules with pharmaceutical relevance, and determination of the molecular structure of drugs and biological receptors.
Syllabus:
- ELECTROCHEMISTRY: Nernst equation, potentiometry, polarography, differential pulse voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, Conductimetry, conductimetric titrations, Biosensors
- ULTRAVIOLET-VISIBLE: radiation sources, Monochromators, detectors, spectrophotometers "diode array", Beer-Lambert law.
- ATOMIC ABSORPTION: Absorption of flame, Chamber of graphite, Issue plasma.
- INFRARED: spectrophotometers Fourier transform Michelson interferometer.
- NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE Chemical Shift, coupling constants, multidimensional NMR techniques, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Picture
- MASS SPECTROMETRY: molecular ions, natural isotopic abundance, analysis of fragmentation.
- ABSORPTION, FLUORESCENCE AND X-RAY DIFFRACTION: X-ray sources, Monochromators, Elemental analysis, Bragg's Law, image X-ray contrast agents.
- ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY. Pharmaceutical applications, and membranes biolologicas microorganisms
