Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

The Assessment of Food Intake Unit aims to acquaint students with the methods of collection of food intake information.

Skills to be acquired:

  • To understand and correctly use specific concepts of food intake evaluation.
  • To be familiar with the data collection methods for food intake and to adapt them to specific situations.
  • To be able to collect, record and report data on individual food intake.
Syllabus:

Lectures:

  1. Assessment of food intake in the context of nutrition profession.
  2. Methods of food intake assessment.
  3. Food questionnaires.
  4. Methods of food intake assessment in special conditions (disable, illiterate, etc.).
  5. Application of food intake assessment methods in population studies.
Theoretical / practical classes:
 
Principles of food intake assessment methodology.
Data collection through:
        Records / food diaries.
        24 hours recall.
        Food history.
        Food frequency questionnaires.
Planning and execution of a field work.
