Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
- Understand the internal organization of the cell and evolution of prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic, relating the structure and function of cellular organelles with their molecular structure.
- Analyze the cell as a unit integrated in a biological system that responds to external stimuli of cellular signaling framed in a tissue.
- Fundamentals of the various chemical processes that make life possible Cellular Energy from Bioenergetics and Metabolic Biochemistry.
- Learn the mechanisms of integration and regulation of the various metabolic pathways and recognize its importance in maintaining homeostasis.
- Acquire knowledge about the scientific method and its application in Veterinary Medicine

- Cells and cellular organization. DNA organization in genes and chromosomes. DNA replication.
- Regulation of gene expression. Genetics and epigenetics. Recombinant DNA Technology.
- Nucleus. Intracellular component structure and function. Cytoskeleton. Circulation of proteins in the cell.
- Glucose Metabolism: Glycolysis, Glycogenolysis
- Cellular Respiration: Citric Acid Cycle, Oxidative Phosphorylation, Fatty Acid Oxidation, Amino Acid Oxidation
- Glucose Biosynthesis
- Lipid metabolism: β-oxidation. Lipid Biosynthesis
- Amino Acid Metabolism: Transamination and Oxidative Deamination, Decarboxylation; Amino Acid Carbon Chain Metabolism
