Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

At the end of the CU, the student should be able to identify and either run:

  • The basic principles of obtaining structures in alumina and zirconia.
  • The dental materials used in the discipline.
  • The need for construction and ceramic laminates procedures.
  • Concepts of light, colour, aesthetics.
  • Build aesthetic and functional restorations.
  • Build prostheses through ceramic injection methods.
Syllabus:
  1. Technique of obtaining working models, casts and dies systems.
  2. Base for ceramic veneering structures.
  3. The golden grid.
  4. Injection ceramic lithium di-silicate by the cut-back system.
  5. Professional technique for layering of ceramic materials.
  6. Colour, light and ranges of standard and custom colour.
  7. Manual milling systems for structures in zirconia (pantographs).
  8. CAD systems for the manufacture of dental structures.
  9. CAM systems for manufacturing dental structures.
  10. Electro-deposited telescopic crowns in gold.
  11. Casting or milling advantages and disadvantages.
