Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

Goals:

• Develop analytical skills to understand the results of health research in light of the methodologies used.
• Reflect on the importance of the knowledge produced through the scientific investigation in the care process in nursing.

Skills:

• Identifies scientific paradigms and relationship with knowledge patterns.
• Interprets reports of qualitative and quantitative studies.
• Analyzes scientific articles taking into account their validity and applicability in nursing practice.
• Recognizes research as a contribution to the development of nursing and as a means for the improvement of nursing care.
• Search properly in the different sources of information.
• Identifies the ethical principles of research work.
• Participate in research.
• It values the need for dissemination of scientific works.

Syllabus:

1. SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
   Preparation of RSL protocol.
   Elaboration of the research question.
   Database search strategies.
   Critical review of articles.
   Discussion and conclusions.
   Preparation of the report.
2. WRITING OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES
   Construction of scientific articles.
   Writing scientific articles.
   Elaboration of scientific posters.
3. CHARACTERISTICS OF STUDIES ON QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
   Strategies of qualitative research.
   Strategies of quantitative research.
   Qualitative studies: phenomenological and ethnographic, case study, "Grounded Theory" and the Appreciative Inquiry.
   Data analysis: content analysis.
