Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

Objective:

  • To equip students for the acquisition and development of competences for the provision of nursing care to the child / youth and family.

Skills:

  • Knows the path of the child and the young person in the dimensions: growth, development, emotional and social maturation.
  • Detects health problems by adjusting Nursing interventions.
  • Describes food needs in child development.
  • Describes the etiology, pathophysiology, symptomatology, therapeutics and prognosis of the most frequent affections in the child and the young person.
  • Understand the specificity of nursing care in neonatology and emergency situations.
  • Contextualizes the philosophy of pediatric care.
  • Understands the influences of social, cultural and religious factors in the promotion of child and young health.
  • Explains the implications of the disease, treatments and hospitalizations in the health and development of the child and young person.
  • Knows the national network of health care for the child / youth and family.
  • It contributes, in the exercise of its learning in the area of management, research, and training, for the improvement and evolution of nursing care delivery.

  2. SPECIFICS IN PEDIATRIC

    Mistreatment and sexual abuse.

    Breaking bad news and death.
  3. NEONATOLOGY
    Anamnesis.
    Physical examination.
    Patent ductus arteriosus and necrotizing enterocolitis.

    Gastrointestinal.

    Endocrine and metabolic.
