Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

• Definition of Health Psychology in its relation with Psychology
• Understanding the emergence context of Health Psychology in the healthcare field
• Knowing, analyzing and comparing different health concepts, the main determinants of health and their contributions to the process of intervention in Health and Clinical Psychology
• Knowing the work areas of Health psychologists in the different contexts and institutions and recognize their contribute to the organization of healthcare
• Analyze, discuss and evaluate different models of intervention towards health promotion at individual, group and organizational levels.
• Competences: Knowing the main concepts and theoretical models, relate them and critically analyses the scientific literature concerning this issue, interrelate different models and clinical approaches in Health contexts

Syllabus:

1. Understanding the context in which Health Psychology emerges and develops in the human history.
2. Meeting essential concepts within health promotion.
3. Developing applied research programs in health psychology.
