Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- Describe the several explanatory models of communication;
- Describe the systemic model of communication;
- Identify the characteristics of several models of care in physical therapy in particular the model of patient-centered intervention;
- Record and analyze communication episodes within the clinical practice of physical therapists
- Identify potentially problematic interactions
- Develop communication strategies in order to enhance effective interactions, involving patients in decision making, establishing therapeutic alliances, encouraging self care
- Design, implement and develop physical therapy models of intervention based on the relationship developed with the users, aiming at the sharing and construction of meanings
