Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
Toxicology corresponds generally to a field of study about the harmful effects of chemical substances in living things. It is a multidisciplinary matter since it encompasses knowledge as diverse as pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry, physiology and others. The steady growth in the number of new chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, pollutants included, drugs of abuse, food additives, etc., associated with the extension of the risk of toxicity that entail, constitutes the support and justification for the commitment that must be given to the study of this discipline. The pharmacist, for its multi-disciplinary training and opportunities for any intervention in his professional life, occupies a place of honor to fit in this scientific area and receive proper formation.
In the laboratory classes the objective is to provide practical knowledge in relation to analytical toxicology and the interpretation of results.
