Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The aim of this CU is established a bridge between several disciplines such as physiology and metabolic biochemistry. The second objective is to study food supply, on factors influencing food choices, on public health nutrition programs to prevent diet-related diseases and on the role of diet in clinical management of disease.
Will be valued all actions aiming to provide students with a critical and analytical self-applied to all aspects of the syllabus.
It is attended that students acquired knowledge about nutrition applied on health and disease prevention.
Syllabus:
- Introduction to Human Nutrition - a Global perspective on Food and Nutrition: Orientation to human nutrition; an integrated approach; relationship between nutrition and health
- Food and nutrition - The Global Challenge: Malnutrition through the life cycle; Food, nutrition and the emerging burden of obesity and chronic diseases; Food and nutrition and the promotion of public health. Optimized nutrition: Phytochemicals, functional foods, Probiotics, probiotics and symbiotics, and dietetic fiber. Interaction between nutrients and drugs.
