1General and Analytical Chemistry

Química Geral e Analítica

Curse code:9494118

Maria Alexandra Sardinha Bernardo

Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

Through this course students must acquire the basic knowledge in molecular behavior needed to improve their comprehension on the chemical and physical events. This course is design to include laboratory lessons were students should experience and understand the most common techniques used in the modern chemistry laboratory.
Students must also become familiar with quantitative analytical chemistry calculations and appropriate selection along with the execution of available laboratory procedures.
The knowledge, theoretical and practical, acquired in this unit of study will be the basis in areas of knowledge of pharmaceuticals (eg. organic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, galenic pharmacy, pharmacognosy and toxicology).

The following competencies should be acquired at the end of this course:

  • Laboratory experience.
  • Critical and analytical judgment.
  • Information managing skills (careful assembly, collection and interpretation of gathered material).
  • Skills in handling new problems.
  • Proper argument capacities.
  • Ability to learn engaging in individual and teamwork.
