Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
- Objective 1: To know the principles of morphogenesis and organogenesis associated with the formation of endocrine glands in different domestic animals.
- Objective 2: Know how to identify microscopically the tissues associated with endocrine glands in different domestic animals
- Objective 3: To identify the anatomical structures associated with the endocrine glands in different domestic animals.
- Objective 4: Understand the physiological mechanisms of the endocrine glands and their contribution to the functioning of the organism as a whole in different domestic animals
- Objective 5: To differentiate physiological from pathological parameters in the functioning of the endocrine glands.
Syllabus:
- Morphogenesis and organogenesis of endocrine glands with their physiological function .
- Histology and Physiology of endocrine glands.
- Anatomical structures of the endocrine system, their spatial and functional organization.
- Physiological mechanisms of the endocrine system and its contribution to the regulation of the entire animal body function.
- Patterns of endocrine disfunction and their effects in the animal organism by comparing against homeostatic animals.
- Thoracic and abdominal wall anatomy. Diafragm.
- Abdominal cavity: ligaments and serosas. General topography.
Practice Component
- Optical microscope observation of cells and tissues
- Dissection and exploration of anatomical parts. Exploring anatomical models and plastinated organs.
- In silico simulation of endocrine system physiology, by use of the PhysioEx software.
