Clinical and Laboratorial Microbiology I
Microbiologia Clinico-Laboratorial I
Course code:68202
Teresa Maria da Silva do Nascimento
Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
Knowledge about pathogenesis, pathology, epidemiology, prevention and treatment of major human microbial infections. Integrated study of bacteria, viruses and fungi in different biological products, with particular emphasis is given to laboratory diagnosis of these infections.
At the end of this course the student should know the general course of microbiological analysis of different biological products, in order to identify and patch test sensitivity to drugs (antibiotics and antifungals) for different microorganisms potentially pathogenic to humans.
Students who successfully complete the course must have acquired:
- Adequate knowledge of the subject taught.
- The ability of interpretation in relation to situations related to the subjects taught including interpretation and evaluation of clinical microbiological requirements and subsequent execution.
Syllabus:
- DISTRIBUTION OF THE NORMAL FLORA OF THE HOST AND PARASITE-HOST RELATIONSHIP
- ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY
