Students from the European Union countries and the European Economic Area are covered by the European Health Insurance Card, which entitles them to have access to the national social security system as any Portuguese citizen. In order to have access to this scheme, students should contact their own Social Security Office to have the respective card issued, before arriving in Portugal.

In addition, all students must benefit from a accident insurance, which covers all accidents that occur at the University’s premises, outside the facilities (during formally organised curricular activities) and on the way to and back from the Institution. This insurance is compulsory.

Upon arrival, for enrolment purposes at Egas Moniz, all students will be requested to present the insurance proof.

In case of accident, students must immediately contact the Erasmus Office, so that the incident can be formally acknowledge to the insurance company and all the formal procedures can be triggered
