Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
At the end of the Curricular Unit, it is intended that the student has develop the skills that allow him to:
- LO1. Analyze the role of Pathology in Health Sciences.
- LO2. Know and morphologically characterize the large groups of lesions in cells, tissues and organs.
- LO3. Apply the concepts studied in basic Pathology. Must be able to integrate the characteristic basic disease patterns in clinical pictures and nosological entities and understand the importance of clinico-pathological research in the progress of scientific knowledge.
Syllabus:
- PC1. Introduction to Pathology.
- PC2. Cellular adaptation.
- PC3. Cell injury and death.
- PC4. Acute inflammation.
- PC5. Chronic inflammation.
- PC6. Tissue repair, healing and fibrosis.
- PC7. Alterations of metabolism. Pigments. Calcifications.
- PC8. Hemodynamic disorders.
- PC9. Neoplasms I.
- PC10. Neoplasms II.
- PC11. Study of clinico-pathological cases.
The learning objectives fall into the areas of knowledge, know-being and know-evolve, so the contents are divided into theoretical and practical component to sustain this diversity. The defined educational objectives aspire to mobilize competencies of knowledge, interpretation and ongoing review and the contents seek to create conditions for achieving this, giving students contact with the theoretical scientific subjects and essential practical and relevant documents. The space will be created for scientific substantiation in more specific fields of Pathology, with particular emphasis on microscopic observation of histological sections in the laboratory. All learning objectives are supported by content with the following operation: LO1: PC1 LO2: PC2-10 LO3: PC11.
