Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
Objectives:
- To guide the student to participate actively, integrating theoretical knowledge with practice patients, solidifying and learning topics, previously made.
- Help the student create a safe working environment with special reference to cross-infection control.
- Foster in the student the spirit of patient education, through the assumption of shared responsibility for health.
The solid theoretical knowledge and understanding of the subject, suitable for clinical experience, must enable the resolution of clinical problems encountered independently or without assistance. Skills to be developed:
- Manage and maintain a safe working environment with special reference to cross-infection control.
- Educate patients concerning the etiology and prevention of oral disease and encourage them to assume responsibility for their oral health.
- Have knowledge of the scientific principles of sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis in clinical practice.
- Provide humane and compassionate care to all patients.
- Preventive and restorative procedures that prevent hard and soft tissue disease.
Syllabus:
- The operating theater and preventive behavior.
- Patients in need of special treatment.
- The vulnerability and risk of HIV infection and interest to demystify the possible risks of HIV transmission.
- HIV:oral and systemic manifestations.
- The medical dental consultation routine HIV positive patients for HIV or AIDS.
- Guidelines for the control of cross-infection in the practice of dentistry.
- Proceedings of occupational accidents.
- Patients with chronic kidney disease on preventive practice.
- Patients with hereditary coagulopathies in preventive practice.
- Oral cancer: prevalence, causes, risk groups, primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.
- Oral manifestations of other systemic diseases and their relation to prevention.
- Aging and oral health II.
