Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
- To define orthodontics and identify its scope of action in pre-graduate and post-graduate. Discussing the prevalence and need for orthodontic treatment.
- Knowing the characteristics of the normal pattern of somatic growth from birth to adult. Recognize changes in normal growth pattern.
- Knowing the theories of craniofacial growth proposed by the authors. Knowing the growth processes of the vault and skull base. Knowing the normal growth of the upper jaw and its variations. Discussing the importance of nasal septum cartilage in the growth of the upper jaw. Describe the normal growth of the jaw and its variations.
- Understand the importance of the functions of the sphere orofacial in craniofacial growth.
- Knowing the timing and sequence of tooth eruption. Recognize the main characteristics of normal occlusion in milk dentition, mixed and permanent. Able to relate the dimensional changes of the dental arches with dental development.
