Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
- Know how to diagnose orthodontic problem and the ideal time for their treatment.
- Describe the constitutional elements of orthodontics appliances. Recognize the possibilities and limitations of removable appliances relative to fixed orthodontic appliances.
- Describe the three-dimensional control of tooth movement.
- Know the main indications for interceptive orthodontic treatment.
- Understand the etiology and prevalence of frequent dental inclusions.
- Know the possibilities and limitations of combined orthodontic and surgical treatment. Describe the specifics of diagnosis in surgical cases. Understand the objectives of pre surgical orthodontic treatment.
- Identify the main factors involved in the relapse of orthodontic treatment. Know common appliances used during the retention phase.
