Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:

• Define orthodontics and identify its scope of action in pre-graduate and post-graduate
• Discuss the prevalence and need for orthodontic treatment
• Know the theories of craniofacial growth proposed by the authors.
• Know the craniofacial growth processes and understand the importance of the functions of the sphere orofacial in craniofacial growth.
• Know the timing and sequence of tooth eruption. Recognize the main characteristics of normal occlusion in milk dentition, mixed and permanent. Be able to relate the dimensional changes of the dental arches with dental development.
• Know the elements that constitute a device biomechanical.
• Acquire the ability for making active plaque orthodontic appliances

3. Embryology face
4. Craniofacial growth and development
5. The function in craniofacial growth
6. Normal development of dentition
7. Concept of normocclusion
8. Introduction to removable appliance
9. Elements of a biomechanical appliance
10. Making of an active orthodontic appliance plaque
