Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
- Preventing the development of periodontal disease in their future patients;
- Diagnose and treatment planning of moderate periodontal disease;
- Diagnose and guide all cases of advanced periodontal disease who require more complex periodontal treatment;
- Be aware of the importance of Periodontology in Dentistry and Public Health.
- Students should have all skills of the "Code of Professional Skills of the Master in Dentistry": Generic skills, skills in knowledge and understanding, specific skills, professional ethics and professional attitude.
Syllabus:
- The role of systemic diseases in the periodontal diseases etiology
- Changes that occur in the transition between health and the periodontal disease
- The immune reactions of periodontal disease
- The histopathology, clinical and microbiology of different forms of periodontal disease
- Periodontal manifestations of systemic diseases
- The clinical and histological consequences of traumatic occlusion
- Periodontal diseases epidemiology
- Clinical manifestations of periodontal disease, as well as diagnostic
- The interpretation of the normal structures and pathological in Xray
- The pathogenesis, clinical and therapeutic of endo-periodontal pathology
- The periodontal treatment plan
- The technical approach of patients with periodontal disease
- The importance of oral hygiene
- The importance of the root surface scaling
