Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The aims are:
- Acquiring knowledge on the basics of clinical thinking and method for adequate sign and symptom recollection;
- Acquiring medical lexicon to allow effective communication with peers and patients;
- Acquisition of knowledge about intoxication and medical emergencies, boost the need for ongoing training and encourage punctuality and attendance, such as respect for colleagues and institutions.
The skills are:
- Knowing and understanding the lectured topics, such as the ability to analyse, synthesize, and integrate information;
- Analysing, interpreting, and critical and intervening discussion regarding situations related to the lectured topics;
- Applying knowledge to professional practice and acquiring knowledge allowing an autonomous learning process for life.
Syllabus:
- Clinical history: Concept, importance and rules of drafting a complete medical history;
- Semiology of medical relevance: Concept, etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic approach
- Intoxications: Concept, etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic approach
